Susan Fletcher is the protagonist of Digital Fortress. She was the Head Cryptographer of the NSA and had an IQ of 170. Her fiancé, David Becker, was sent to Seville to recover Ensei Tankado's ring and was to be killed afterward. However, he managed to escape the assassin and at the end of the novel, along with Susan, they cracked the Digital Fortress's code.
